Green lingerie from a new perspective

A few weeks ago, we talked about green St. Patrick's Day lingerie. These days, however, green is more than just a color. “Green” is the international symbol for the environmentally conscious and there are more options for environmentally conscious underwear everyday. Here are 4 “green” products you might want to check out.

Greenknickers Padded Cycling Brief1) Greenknickers padded cycling brief. If you've given up driving to work in favor of riding your non-greenhouse gas emitting bicycle, then you'll love this padded cycling brief from Greenknickers. It's made from a 70% bamboo and 30% organic cotton blend which is not only environmentally friendly, but also breathable, antibacterial and extraordinarily soft. The most notable feature of this brief, however, is the detachable padding that keeps your tush from getting sore while you're pedaling long miles in the saddle.

Chantelle Bamboo Collection2) Chantelle Bamboo collection. Chantelle has recently released a collection of bras and panties that are made from a bamboo jersey blend. The collection consists of a low rise shorty, a thong, a three quarter cup balcony bra, and a padded balcony bra. In most cases, these pieces are slightly less than 50% bamboo rayon blended with artificial fibers, so they're not 100% natural. The look of the Chantelle bamboo collection is simplistic and elegant, but the jersey type fabric is meant more for everyday use than for a special evening in the bedroom.

Ballet Zhen Bamboo wrap3) Ballet Zhen Bamboo collection. Ballet has extended the bamboo realm of intimate apparel beyond just the traditional bra and panty to other intimate garments. The Zhen collection features a wrap top, a French knicker, a few camisoles, a chemise, cropped pajama pants, and full length lounge pants. In most cases, the Zhen collection is up to 95% bamboo with only the trim being composed of other fibers. Like the Chantelle bamboo collection, most of these pieces aren't exactly what you'd call “sexy”...more like “pretty” or “cute”, but they're certainly comfortable.

C-IN2 bamboo army trunk4) C-IN2 Bamboo army trunk. No Intimate Guide list would be complete without an option for the guys. Many of the mens underwear companies were the first to develop alternative natural fibers like bamboo and soy for intimate apparel. The C-IN2 bamboo army trunk is one of my personal favorites (see my review here). It's 95% bamboo with spandex trim at the waist and it's supremely comfortable.

As alternative natural fibers like bamboo start to catch on, more and more lingerie companies will likely be releasing lines incorporating them in the future. Even if you're not all that concerned about the environment, bamboo fabrics are some of the softest around and few things are as comfortable against the skin.
